DETACHED DOUBLE-FRONTED HOME IN BARNES

In this house we were able to significantly increase the usable living space with a sizable kitchen extension, and by converting the existing garage into an artist’s studio. We pulled light through the whole house using full width glazed doors and skylights in the kitchen and studio, and an oversized picture window in the living room to maximise views of the garden. We also replaced solid internal doors with glazing to improve light and flow through the house. Glazing was minimal framed aluminium to maximise thermal efficiency, with steel-look glazing bars added for character.

Our favourite detail /

Pushing up the ceiling height in the new kitchen, a feature that is not easy to achieve in this type of extension due to planning constraints.

The result /

A generous rear extension with high ceilings, oversized doors and real wow factor.

Our clients say /

Debbie was extremely good at listening and interpreting our ideas, and adding her own, to ensure they not only met with our expectations, but resulted in a fabulous re-imagining of our home. Humble + Humble were very responsive to any issues that arose, ensuring there was no delays in the project, which was so reassuring.
